What’s right for you?

Your smile is the best accessory you could ever wear.

But if you’re worried that your smile isn’t as bright as it used to be, it’s time to take advantage of the high-quality whitening treatment available at Bexley Dental.

When choosing a whitening method for your teeth, there are a number of things you’ll want to consider. We’ll take a look at those, and then look at the specific options available to you.

Convenience

For many people, this is a big one. You need only walk through the aisles at your local chemist to see how true that is–the number of at-home whitening kits available over the counter has exploded in recent years.

Another convenient option seems to be the non-dentist whitening “bars” popping up in shopping centers and other high traffic areas.

But these aren’t your only options – nor are they the best. Non-professional whitening options aren’t able to offer the same strength of whitening that you can get from your dentist, and so results can vary.

That means if convenience is one of your top priorities, you need to ask yourself these questions to find the best option for you:

How long does the treatment take?

Read the fine print. How many treatments are required to get your desired results? How long does each one take? At what point can you expect to see noticeable changes? What kind of maintenance does this method require? All of these things impact the real time commitment to treatment… And how convenient it really is.

What is the cost… And what do the reviews say about the results?

A “low-cost,” convenient option sounds great. But the truth is, this is a case of “you get what you pay for.”

Cheap whitening kits and services simply aren’t as effective as their professional counterparts. But you don’t have to take our word for it.
Simply read the reviews.

A “convenient” option that doesn’t get the job done the first time, loses a lot of its appeal.

Cost

It’s no surprise that there is a huge range of prices for whitening treatments, from over-the-counter take home kits, to in-chair whitening at your dentist’s office. But it’s important to get to the real cost of treatment. Again, ask yourself:

How many treatments will this take? … And what is the cost for each one?

Oftentimes, the treatments that appear to be the least costly up front, can catch up to more “expensive” options by the time you’ve achieved your desired results. It’s worth taking a few minutes to calculate the real costs to be sure the savings are real.

What is the recommended maintenance, and what does that cost?

Many low-cost whitening options rely on selling you add-on maintenance products as an important source of revenue. It’s worth doing your research to know in advance what those recommendations are, if you really need them to maintain your results, and if so, what the real costs are.

Safety & Results

Finally, of course, safety is the last major factor to consider. While all of the whitening products on the market must be approved in order to be sold, no certification can account for you as an individual. Reactions can and do happen in sensitive individuals, so many people feel more comfortable having whitening done in the presence of their own dentist. If you have particularly sensitive teeth and gums, your dentist will be able to adjust the formulation accordingly to ensure your comfort, both during AND after treatment.

At home kits

There are as many take-home options as there are fish in the sea. From the over-the-counter options at your local chemist, to more advanced mail order options, and even take-home versions of your dentist’s professional whitening kits.

With take home kits, it’s particularly important to note how many treatments they require, and the total cost (plus maintenance).

And as always, check the reviews, to choose the most effective product.

In-Chair Whitening

With so many at-home options, including professional grade Zoom! Take Home kits, who should consider in-chair whitening treatments? The answer is simple: Anyone who wants to be sure about their results, without the diligence of a 14 day regimen.

There is simply no comparison to the in-chair experience.  Prior to your whitening treatment, we recommend all of our patients have a complimentary 15-minute whitening consultation where your dentist is able to able to evaluate the health of your teeth, assess the level of staining and set expectations for your whitening results.

The treatment itself can be completed in as little as 36 minutes in most cases and the results can last for 2-3 years which is more than any other whitening system. It’s a level of customisation and precision you simply can’t get at home, or at a pop-up whitening bar.

Did you know?

Professional, in-chair whitening can last up to 3 years in some cases? That’s a lot of gorgeous smiles from a process that can take just 36 minutes!

Compare that with results from popular at-home kits:

  • Results from over-the-counter whitening strips typically last 1-2 weeks
  • Results from at-home bleach kits can last between 3-9 months… But can still cost hundreds of dollars for less than half the results of professional whitening

Whitening At Bexley

At Bexley, our cosmetic dentists offer two types of whitening services — Smartbleach 3LT In-Chair Tooth Whitening, and Zoom! Take Home Whitening Kits, a professional-grade, at-home version of our in-chair service.

Smartbleach 3LT In-Chair Tooth Whitening Just $725!

Smartbleach 3LT In-chair whitening is the quickest, easiest, most comfortable way to whiten your teeth

Why is that?

Smartbleach 3LT is an advanced whitening system which uses “laser-like” technology and whitens teeth without using any heat, making it safer for the health of your teeth.

The treatment uses a combination of red alkaline gel and a pure green laser-like light to create an intense whitening effect. The gel does not etch the tooth enamel like other acid-based whitening systems and the laser-like light doesn’t heat the tooth pulp which is why most patients experience little to no sensitivity after treatment.

Using the Smartbleach 3LT system, your dentist is able to control your whitening procedure from start to finish to get the best results while you watch TV and relax in one of our private treatment areas.

Why Choose Bexley Dental To Whiten Your Teeth?

All of our dentists and hygienists are specially trained in Smartbleach 3LT Tooth-Whitening

It’s safe, effective and affordable

Smartbleach 3LT In-chair whitening is reasonably priced at $725, which includes take-home whitening trays if required.

Zoom! Take Home Whitening Kit – $380

At Bexley, we use Zoom! Take Home Whitening Kits for patients that wish to have professional grade whitening at home.

What makes these different from the grocery-store take-home kits?

Only take-home kits from your dentist can provide peroxide strength of up to 14%, to ensure professional-grade whitening at home. The over-the-counter options can only provide 6% — Less than half the strength.

Of course, there’s a reason for this. Your dentist knows what is appropriate and safe for your teeth… And how to instruct you to get best results. We use Philips’ Zoom products, because they are the only professional take-home whitening system with ACP (amorphous calcium phosphate). This system delivers enamel protection while it whitens, which reduces future staining, AND sensitivity.

That means your whitening treatment can actually make your teeth stronger, WHILE giving you professional-grade whitening — at home — in just 14 days.
Compare that to over-the-counter take-home methods, which take months without delivering the same results.

For the great price of just $380, you will receive a set of custom-made whitening trays, whitening gel and instructions on how to get the best results from your home whitening kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

With so many different whitening products on the market, it’s easy to get confused.
So here are the facts you need to know before you commit.

Is Smartbleach 3LT safe?

Yes. Smartbleach treatment has been developed in Europe over the last fourteen years. Studies have shown there is no internal or external damage to treated teeth. Smartbleach does not heat the pulp of the tooth as other teeth whitening systems can so protects the teeth during the teeth whitening treatment.

What are the side effects?

Most patients report that they don’t experience any side effects after Smartbleach 3LT whitening but if anything, some patients may experience mildly sensitive teeth for up to 24 hours after treatment.

What’s the difference between over the counter whitening solutions and Philips Zoom?

Over-the-counter whitening products are not customised to your needs. With Smartbleach 3LT, the whitening process is tailored to your needs by your dentist to ensure the best results.

How long will my Smartbleach 3LT whitening results last?

Whitening treatments help to reduce existing stains, but through consumption of coffee, soft drinks or just through natural aging, your teeth may eventually become discoloured again. Assuming you look after your teeth normally, experience in both Europe and Australia has shown that the benefits of Smartbleach® last for years!

What causes teeth to discolour?

There are many causes to tooth discoloration. Some of the most common include the consumption highly colored foods and drinks (berries, coffee, tea, red wine). Some medications, aging, smoking and trauma can also cause teeth discoloration.

How long does it take?

With Smartbleach 3LT, your teeth will be visibly whiter immediately after treatment. With Smartbleach 3LT in-chair, you will achieve up to six shades whiter in just 36 minutes. With Zoom at-home, when used as instructed, you will achieve the same great results in one-two weeks, depending on the concentration of formulation and wear time you select.
