What Types of Oral Implants Are Available?

individual implants

Individual Implants

Individual implants are used when a patient needs to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth, usually one or two neighbouring teeth.

dental implants

All On 4

All-On-4 implants are suited to patients requiring half or complete teeth replacement. Because just four implants can support an entire set of teeth, they are an excellent option for patients with periodontal or bone issues.

Permanent implants let you stop worrying and start smiling again.

Why Choose Dental Implants in Sydney Australia?

natural and healthy teeth

The Closest Thing to Your Natural, Healthy Teeth

Dental implants are permanent replacements that feel, fit, and function like natural teeth. While less permanent options can lead to bone loss or interfere with everyday activities, implants allow you to eat, speak, and smile without hesitation.

Permanent, Convenient, and Cost-Effective

Traditional tooth-supported bridges last only about seven years and often require replacement, maintenance, or repair. Dental implants, on the other hand, are meant to last a lifetime if you follow your dentist’s instructions and care for your oral health as recommended for natural teeth.

healthy gum bones

Healthy Bone, And Your Same, Gorgeous Self

A tooth implant helps keep your jawbone healthy and strong by recreating the natural pressure that real teeth provide. This process prevents bone loss, helping maintain your facial structure, appearance, and long-term bone health.

healthy teeth

Speak, Eat, Laugh

Dental implants don’t slip, shift, move, or click, unlike dentures. And they feel like your regular teeth, so you can speak, eat, laugh, and even sneeze, just like you’re used to—without fear of your dentures flying out.

Secure And Prolong The Life Of Loose Teeth

When a tooth has been missing for quite a while, it is not uncommon for the teeth on either side of the gap to become loose. Dental implants can anchor these teeth, stabilising and prolonging their useful life.

teeth restoration

Restoration That Doesn’t Compromise Healthy Teeth

Traditional tooth-supported bridges often require grinding down the healthy teeth on either side of a gap so the bridge can be fixed in place. This compromises otherwise strong teeth just to replace the missing one. In contrast, an endosseous implant integrates directly with the jawbone, restoring the lost tooth securely without damaging surrounding teeth or altering their structure.

Reliable, Lifelong Replacements You Can Count On

Dental implants have a long track record of success when placed correctly, making them more predictable than other tooth replacements. With a proper treatment plan to start and standard dental care to maintain your oral health, there is no reason they shouldn’t be a lifelong solution.

Bridges and Dentures

The Problem with Bridges and Dentures

While popular options for replacing missing teeth, the problem with dentures and non-permanent bridges boils down to this—they’re not permanent solutions.

Dentures are notoriously uncomfortable for all-day wear, and their reduced bite strength means that despite replacing the missing teeth, patients often struggle to eat their favourite foods and worry about their dentures becoming loose while speaking or enjoying a meal.

Meanwhile, tooth-supported bridges require grinding healthy teeth on either side of the missing tooth, compromising healthy teeth. And while resin-supported bridges do not damage healthy teeth, they can’t be used just anywhere. Because of the thin bond used to attach resin-supported bridges, they should only be used on incisors (the teeth in the front of your mouth) so they aren’t subject to the torque and force of chewing.

Why You Should Consider Dental Implants

Neither dentures nor tooth-supported bridges can replace the natural root structure of missing teeth. A tooth implant fills this gap by mimicking the natural root, ensuring your jawbone continues to receive the pressure it needs while you chew. Without that support, the bone gradually loses strength and density, causing nearby teeth to loosen and even changing the shape of your face, a process known as bone resorption.

An oral implant integrates securely with the jawbone, maintaining bone health and preserving your natural facial structure. It helps prevent the ongoing adjustments often required with dentures, offering a stable and long-term solution for missing teeth.

Permanently Replace Damaged or Missing Teeth With Dental Implants

Whether missing one tooth or needing a complete set, you have permanent, comfortable, and natural-looking dental implant options.

The Dental Implants Procedure

A natural tooth comprises two distinct sections: the crown (the visible tooth above the gum) and the root (hidden under the gum and inside the jaw bone). The root is responsible for holding the natural tooth in place.

When a person is missing a tooth, the dentist must determine how to recreate the crown portion and choose the best way to secure it in place. An endosseous implant is often used for this purpose, providing a stable and long-lasting foundation that functions like a natural tooth root.

The dental implants procedure uses metallic screw-shaped cylinders placed securely into the jawbone to replace the root and secure a replacement tooth.

As implants are inserted directly into the jawbone, they mimic the stimulation that the root of a natural tooth would provide to the bone and keep the bone strong and healthy, just like a real tooth, avoiding the bone loss that can accompany less permanent options. Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Australia?
This depends on the extent of your treatment needs. A basic set of acrylic teeth with metal reinforcement at our surgery will cost $3,999 per arch. All-on-4 treatments cost $14,999 per single arch. The first step is determining the treatment to suit your needs, which an assessment will do. Contact us for details: 02 9567 41511.
How Long do Dental Implants Last?
They can last between 12 to 25 years or, in some instances, a lifetime! This does depend on your lifestyle choices and if you visit your dentist for checkups for cleanings (around twice a year is sufficient).
Do Dental Implants Hurt?
In most instances, our patients don’t feel discomfort or pain due to our team using anesthesia. However, once that wears off, you may face some side effects, such as discomfort. This may include soreness in your teeth, gums, and surrounding jaw. This will pass in a matter of days.
Can I Use My Super for Dental Implants?
You may be able to, but you must apply through the ATO (Australian Tax Office). You may be eligible for support if you have a condition that causes chronic pain. We can refer you to a specialist to prepare your application. Contact our team for further information: 02 9567 41511.
